Timothy Meyers is a research analyst at DecisionTek. Since joining DecisionTek in 2009, Mr. Meyers has provided quantitative analysis, research and modeling support to our public-sector clients, while leading the software development efforts of the National Research Council’s TRB NCFRP Project 30.

For the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Mr. Meyers provides significant modeling and design contributions to the Generalized Train Movement Simulator (GTMS), a computer system that replicates the operations of a railroad.  GTMS supports the FRA’s goal to deploy new train control technologies safely, while also providing functionalities for operational and rail capacity analyses.  For use within GTMS, Mr. Meyers developed an interactive rail planning tool, providing analysts with the ability to visualize and edit infrastructure data for simulated rail systems.

Mr. Meyers is currently the lead software developer for the Transportation Research Board’s NCFRP Project 30 “Web-based Screening Tool for Shared-Use Rail Corridors”, a 21-month research project enabling local authorities and service providers to screen options for new passenger rail services on existing freight rail corridors.  The web application provides cutting-edge data entry and visualization tools, backed by a full-fledged train movement simulation model for predicting capacity issues on shared-use corridors.
