Daniel Brod leads DecisionTek, which he founded in 2000. Mr. Brod has more than 25 years experience as a senior economist, transportation policy analyst and software applications developer. He has led research and consulting assignments in benefit-cost analysis, economic and fiscal impact analysis, safety and regulatory analysis, transportation economics, environmental economics, finance and market analyses.
Mr. Brod has focused on translating best practice methods and procedures in transportation policy into effective and widely used tools for practitioners and decision makers. Mr. Brod heads DecisionTek’s efforts in developing simulation and policy tools for the Federal Railroad Administration and railroad industry, and he developed the BCA.Net highway benefit-cost analysis system for the Federal Highway Administration.
Through experience assessing the impacts of port and trade economies in the US, Latin America and Africa, he has become a recognized expert in strategic risk assessment and economic analysis of investment risk effects on regional economics and trade, infrastructure investment and operations. He has provided analytic support for assessing the impacts of competitive issues in international shipping. He has also investigated the effects of congestion management systems as they apply to surface transportation and the consequences of these measures on public transit.
Mr. Brod is a leading practitioner of benefit cost analysis, and has been instrumental in preparing guidance documents and methodological guidelines on this subject for both US and Canadian transportation agencies. He earned a Master's degree in Economics from Tel Aviv University and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
